Japan Cake Journal

Baking guides, regional recipes and home kitchen notes

Terms of Use

The conditions that apply when you read, bake from or send material to Japan Cake Journal.

Japan Cake Journal is an independent food newspaper for home bakers in South Africa. We publish baking guides, columns and a short glossary. Recipes are written in grams first, with timings for small kitchens and standard home ovens, and they are meant to be followed and adapted in a home kitchen.

The site offers no accounts, comments, orders, payments or bookings. The only form on the site passes a normal reader request to the handler and then shows the thanks page.

Using our recipes and columns

You may read, print and cook from the guides and columns for your own home kitchen. Republishing an article, recipe or glossary entry in full, or reselling it as your own material, is not permitted without written permission from the editorial desk.

Reader submissions

Notes, corrections and bake-along photos sent to the desk may be edited for length and clarity and published in a column or the monthly bake-along. You keep authorship of what you send, and you confirm that the material is yours to share.

Baking is your call

Ovens, flours and sugars differ from kitchen to kitchen. Our notes describe what worked in testing, not a guaranteed result. You are responsible for checking ingredients, allergies and safe handling in your own kitchen.
